Mi Box 4K Streaming Device Launched in India, Priced at Rs. 3,499

The Xiaomi Mi Box 4K streaming device on Friday made its debut in India, as part of the company's official launch event online. Mi Box 4K is an Android TV 9 Pie-powered tool that connects to your existing television through an HDMI port. The Wi-Fi device is enabled for connectivity, and gives users access to the many apps and services available on Android TV, including popular streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney + Hotstar, and more.

The price of the Mi Box 4K in India, the day of the sale

The price of Xiaomi Mi Box 4K is set at Rs. 3,499. It will go on sale for May 10 at 12pm (noon) via Flipkart, mi.com, Mi Home stores, and Mi Studio stores. It will soon reach Xiaomi's offline stores. Xiaomi has partnered with Docubay, Epic, HoiChoi, and Shemaroo to provide a thrill for Mi Box 4K customers. Next to the Mi Box 4K, Xiaomi introduced the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 and Mi 10 5G in India today.

Features of the Mi Box 4K

The Mi TV Box 4K is designed to be table-top-mounted, and connected to the TV using an embedded HDMI cable. The device is powered by a quad-core Amlogic processor, and features 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage for applications. Up to 4K for streaming on supported content platforms, as well as HDR10 format. The device will be able to play 4K and HDR content from streaming platforms that support these platforms, such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

Unlike Xiaomi's television range, which operates on the company's PatchWall connection, the Mi Box 4K will only use the stock TV TV interface. Since the device is intended for advanced users who often know what they want, features based on PatchWall content discovery are left out of this device.

Users will get additional connectivity to the Mi Box 4K via USB gate and 3.5mm digital outboard, as well as Bluetooth to connect headphones or wireless speakers with audio. The presence of a USB port allows the app to be used as a local media player, and there is wide support for various video and audio modes. There is also a Chromecast Ultra built-in device, which allows users to stream content up to 4K resolution.

The Xiaomi Mi Box 4K is coming up against the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, priced at Rs. 5,999 in India. Xiaomi is counting on users to rely on familiarity with the Android TV display and apps, as well as the convenience of setting up and syncing with Android mobile devices and Google accounts. However, the lack of Dolby Vision content support on the Mi Box 4K is a major problem, given that Netflix now has a content catalog available in Indian format.

There are other powered TV TV streaming devices such as the Airtel Stream Stick and MarQ TurboStream, but the Mi Box 4K has the advantage of being an inexpensive 4K streaming device without the limitations of apps or availability.
